As of January 6, 12 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 17 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.
Of the 10 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2019, four were not wearing seat belts.
Through January 6, one pedestrian has died compared to zero in 2018; zero motorcyclists have died compared to one in 2018; and one bicyclist has died compared to zero in 2018 on state roads and highways.
