COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, March 29, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, March 31, at 11:59 p.m.

As of March 31, 209 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 217 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.
Of the 209 people who have died in 2019, 141 had access to seatbelts, and 66 were not wearing seat belts.
Through March 31, 40 pedestrians have died compared to 35 in 2018; 14 motorcyclists have died compared to 18 in 2018; and eight bicyclists have died compared to three in 2018 on state roads and highways.
