COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, April 12, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 14, at 11:59 p.m.

As of April 14, 242 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 268 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.
Of the 242 people who have died in 2019, 167 had access to seatbelts, and 78 were not wearing seat belts.
Through April 14, 44 pedestrians have died compared to 41 in 2018; 14 motorcyclists have died compared to 24 in 2018; and nine bicyclists have died compared to four in 2018 on state roads and highways.
