COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, May 10, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, May 12, at 11:59 p.m.

As of May 12, 320 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 360 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.
Of the 320 people who have died in 2019, 221 had access to seatbelts, and 107 were not wearing seat belts.
Through May 12, 58 pedestrians have died compared to 54 in 2018; 23 motorcyclists have died compared to 42 in 2018; and 10 bicyclists have died compared to five in 2018 on state roads and highways.
