Columbia – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of seven persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, October 19, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, October 21, at 11:59 p.m.

As of October 21, 811 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 801 highway deaths during the same time period in 2017.
Of the 562 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2018, 289 were not wearing seat belts.
Through October 21, 122 pedestrians have died compared to 125 in 2017; 84 motorcyclists have died compared to 102 in 2017; and 16 bicyclists have died compared to 15 in 2017 on state roads and highways.
