COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of one person killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, June 9, at 6:00 p.m. until Sunday, June 11, at midnight.

As of June 11, 2017, 445 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 441 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.
Of the 323 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 149 were not wearing seat belts.
Through midnight June 11, 57 pedestrians have died compared to 53 in 2016; 46 motorcyclists have died compared to 58 in 2016; and 8 bicyclists have died compared to 13 in 2016 on state roads and highways.
