COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, December 8, at 6:00 p.m. until Sunday, December 10, at midnight.

As of December 10, 914 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 966 highway deaths during the same time period in 2016.
Of the 610 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2017, 294 were not wearing seat belts.
Through midnight December 10, 144 pedestrians have died compared to 138 in 2016; 110 motorcyclists have died compared to 145 in 2016; and 18 bicyclists have died compared to 25 in 2016 on state roads and highways.
