SCDPS Reports Five Killed On South Carolina Roadways August 2, 2019 To August 4, 2019

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of five persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, August 2, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, August 4, at 11:59 p.m.

As of August 4, 564 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 596 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.

Of the 564 people who have died in 2019, 370 had access to seatbelts, and 186 were not wearing seat belts.

Through August 4, 91 pedestrians have died compared to 94 in 2018; 67 motorcyclists have died compared to 67 in 2018; and 19 bicyclists have died compared to 10 in 2018 on state roads and highways.
