SCDPS Reports One Killed on South Carolina Roadways August 23, 2019 to August 25, 2019

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of one person killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, August 23, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, August 25, at 11:59 p.m.

As of August 25, 616 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 670 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.

Of the 616 people who have died in 2019, 401 had access to seatbelts, and 196 were not wearing seat belts.

Through August 25, 101 pedestrians have died compared to 105 in 2018; 74 motorcyclists have died compared to 75 in 2018; and 20 bicyclists have died compared to 12 in 2018 on state roads and highways.
