SCDPS Reports Six Killed On South Carolina Roadways October 4, 2019 To October 6, 2019

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, October 4, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, October 6, at 11:59 p.m.

As of October 6, 738 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 798 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.

Of the 738 people who have died in 2019, 467 had access to seatbelts, and 228 were not wearing seat belts.

Through October 6, 118 pedestrians have died compared to 118 in 2018; 102 motorcyclists have died compared to 88 in 2018; and 21 bicyclists have died compared to 17 in 2018 on state roads and highways.
