COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of five persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, October 11, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, October 13, at 11:59 p.m.

As of October 13, 758 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 822 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.
Of the 758 people who have died in 2019, 479 had access to seatbelts, and 233 were not wearing seat belts.
Through October 13, 121 pedestrians have died compared to 123 in 2018; 103 motorcyclists have died compared to 95 in 2018; and 22 bicyclists have died compared to 17 in 2018 on state roads and highways.
