SCDPS Reports 11 Killed On South Carolina Roadways October 18, 2019 To October 20, 2019

COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of 11 persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, October 18, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, October 20, at 11:59 p.m.

As of October 20, 780 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 845 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.

Of the 780 people who have died in 2019, 493 had access to seatbelts, and 241 were not wearing seat belts.

Through October 20, 122 pedestrians have died compared to 126 in 2018; 109 motorcyclists have died compared to 97 in 2018; and 22 bicyclists have died compared to 17 in 2018 on state roads and highways.
