COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, December 6, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, December 8, at 11:59 p.m.

As of December 8, 920 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 991 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.
Of the 920 people who have died in 2019, 594 had access to seatbelts, and 286 were not wearing seat belts.
Through December 8, 149 pedestrians have died compared to 161 in 2018; 116 motorcyclists have died compared to 109 in 2018; and 24 bicyclists have died compared to 21 in 2018 on state roads and highways.
