COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, December 20, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, December 22, at 11:59 p.m.

As of December 22, 959 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 1,017 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.
Of the 959 people who have died in 2019, 622 had access to seatbelts, and 298 were not wearing seat belts.
Through December 22, 154 pedestrians have died compared to 164 in 2018; 116 motorcyclists have died compared to 111 in 2018; and 26 bicyclists have died compared to 21 in 2018 on state roads and highways.
