COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of five persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, December 13, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, December 15, at 11:59 p.m.

As of December 15, 938 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 1,004 highway deaths during the same time period in 2018.
Of the 938 people who have died in 2019, 610 had access to seatbelts, and 294 were not wearing seat belts.
Through December 15, 149 pedestrians have died compared to 163 in 2018; 116 motorcyclists have died compared to 110 in 2018; and 25 bicyclists have died compared to 21 in 2018 on state roads and highways.
