COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of three persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, February 19, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, February 21, at midnight.

As of February 21, 2016, 106 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 129 highway deaths during the same time period in 2015.
Of the 77 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2016, 41 were not wearing safety belts.
Through midnight February 21, 14 pedestrians died compared to 21 in 2015; seven motorcyclists died compared to nine in 2015; and four bicyclists died compared to two in 2015 on state roads and highways.
