COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, March 18, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, March 20, at midnight.

As of March 20, 2016, 180 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 200 highway deaths during the same time period in 2015.
Of the 128 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2016, 68 were not wearing safety belts.
Through midnight March 20, 26 pedestrians died compared to 30 in 2015; 17 motorcyclists died compared to 17 in 2015; and five bicyclists died compared to four in 2015 on state roads and highways.
