COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of three persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, May 13, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, May 15, at midnight.

As of May 15, 2016, 315 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 342 highway deaths during the same time period in 2015.
Of the 213 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2016, 97 were not wearing safety belts.
Through midnight May 15, 40 pedestrians died compared to 40 in 2015; 39 motorcyclists died compared to 39 in 2015; and ten bicyclists died compared to nine in 2015 on state roads and highways.
