COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of eight persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, October 29, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, October 30, at midnight.

As of October 30, 2016, 820 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 819 highway deaths during the same time period in 2015.
Of the 528 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2016, 257 were not wearing safety belts.
Through midnight October 30, 116 pedestrians died compared to 100 in 2015; 119 motorcyclists died compared to 126 in 2015; and 20 bicyclists died compared to 15 in 2015 on state roads and highways.
