Columbia – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of six persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, January 12, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, January 14, at midnight.

As of January 14, 2018, 30 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 29 highway deaths during the same time period in 2017.
Of the 25 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2018, 16 were not wearing safety belts.
Through midnight January 14, four pedestrians died compared to two in 2017; one motorcyclist died compared to one in 2017; and zero bicyclists have died compared to zero in 2017 on state roads and highways.
