SCDPS Reports Ten Killed On South Carolina Roadways During Memorial Day Weekend, May 26 To May 29, 2023

COLUMBIA — The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of ten people killed on South Carolina roadways during the Memorial Day holiday period beginning Friday, May 26, at 6:00 p.m. until Monday, May 29, at 11:59 p.m. In comparison, SCDPS announced a preliminary number of 17 people killed on South Carolina roadways during the 2022 Memorial Day holiday period.

Please note that these numbers are preliminary and are based on fatal collisions compiled by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety as of 11:59 p.m. May 29, 2023. For confirmation on fatality information, please contact the appropriate county coroner’s office.
