COLUMBIA — The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of four people killed on South Carolina roadways during the Memorial Day holiday period beginning Friday, May 24, at 6:00 p.m. until Monday, May 27, at 11:59 p.m. In comparison, SCDPS announced a preliminary number of 10 people killed on South Carolina roadways during the 2023 Memorial Day holiday period.
Please note that these numbers are preliminary and are based on fatal collisions compiled by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety as of 11:59 p.m. on May 27, 2024. For confirmation on fatality information, please contact the appropriate county coroner’s office.
