Columbia – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of seven persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, April 27, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 29, at 11:59 p.m.

As of April 29, 276 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 328 highway deaths during the same time period in 2017.
Of the 207 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2018, 106 were not wearing seat belts.
Through April 29, 38 pedestrians have died compared to 50 in 2017; 23 motorcyclists have died compared to 35 in 2017; and five bicyclists have died compared to seven in 2017 on state roads and highways.
