Columbia – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of eight persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, March 23, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, March 25, at 11:59 p.m.

As of March 25, 175 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 232 highway deaths during the same time period in 2017.
Of the 133 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2018, 70 were not wearing seat belts.
Through March 25, 26 pedestrians have died compared to 36 in 2017; 12 motorcyclists have died compared to 19 in 2017; and two bicyclists have died compared to five in 2017 on state roads and highways.
