COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of one person killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, January 8, at 6:00 p.m. until Sunday, January 10, at midnight.

As of January 10, 2016, 10 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 27 highway deaths during the same time period in 2015.
Of the seven motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2016, six were not wearing seat belts.
Through midnight January 10, two pedestrians died compared to five in 2015; one motorcyclists died compared to four in 2015; and zero bicyclists died compared to one in 2015 on state roads and highways.
