COLUMBIA – The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of seven persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, January 15, at 6:00 p.m. until Sunday, January 17, at midnight.

As of January 18, 2016, 30 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 39 highway deaths during the same time period in 2015.
Of the 22 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2016, 14 were not wearing seat belts.
Through midnight January 18, four pedestrians died compared to eight in 2015; two motorcyclists died compared to four in 2015; and one bicyclist died compared to one in 2015 on state roads and highways.
