COLUMBIA –The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of seven persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, April 8, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, April 10, at midnight.

As of April 10, 2016, 236 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 256 highway deaths during the same time period in 2015.
Of the 165 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2016, 79 were not wearing safety belts.
Through midnight April 10, 32 pedestrians died compared to 34 in 2015; 25 motorcyclists died compared to 23 in 2015; and eight bicyclists died compared to seven in 2015 on state roads and highways.
