COLUMBIA –The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of seven persons killed on South Carolina roadways from Friday, June 17, at 6 p.m. until Sunday, June 19, at midnight.

As of June 19, 2016, 424 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 423 highway deaths during the same time period in 2015.
Of the 287 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2016, 139 were not wearing seat belts.
Through midnight June 19, 52 pedestrians died compared to 49 in 2015; 56 motorcyclists died compared to 59 in 2015; and ten bicyclists died compared to nine in 2015 on state roads and highways.
